EDS 320 Educational Assessment
In the last two decades, educational assessment has become a national issue, and assessments at the district, state, and national level are used to measure student learning and as tools to hold schools accountable for the efficacy of instruction. Contemporary developments in educational assessments are causing teachers and others to rethink the purpose of assessments. For example, to what extent, should teachers or schools shift from traditional tests and grading systems to more authentic assessments and portfolios?
Acknowledging the connection between good instruction and assessment, State and Federal agencies and professional associations (e.g., NCATE) have adopted standards for teacher competence in educational assessment. This course is designed to help you meet those professional standards, and to provide you with a broad overview of educational assessment
